Wales has become the first nation in the UK to start charging 5p for single-use carrier bags and the Welsh Government hopes by doing this it will reduce the number of bags given out by shops and takeaway restaurants.
As you know plastic bags are still being disposed of incorrectly and this is harmful for the environment so it is far better to re-use plastic bags and once they are no longer useable you can take to your local supermarket and put them in the designated recycle bins!
Did you know that Welsh shoppers use about 350 million plastic bags from supermarkets each year and it is hoped this number will be reduced by at least 85% in the first year.
