A Welsh Printer is making a symbolic statement on behalf of its industry, by becoming one of the first in the UK to plant trees instead of just using them to print.
Andrew Studley, Managing Director of Cowbridge based RG Print, who is also a farmer, has pledged support for the Echo-backed Really Rubbish Campaign and will be planting native trees at a wood being created by the campaign at Parc Tredelerch in Cardiff.
Mr Studley said, “We always use paper from sustainable forest sources in our printing operations, but we wanted to do more. We are helping to create a wood at Parc Tredelerch, which has been formed from reclaimed land next to the Lamby Way landfill site. We are also creating wildlife areas and planting trees on our farm in the Vale.”
Cardiff Council will be helping RG Print to establish 12 saplings including oak, willow and alder; at the 1,200 sq meter plot of land adjacent to the park’s lake which is home to a variety of birds including swans, mallard ducks and coots.
Founded in 1999, RG Print employs 15 people at its new 5,000 sq ft headquarters at Llandow, Near Cowbridge, where it provides high quality printing services for a wide range of organisations throughout England and Wales. These include brochures, magazines, and corporate stationary and promotional items.
Carol Studley added, “The environment is a very important issue for us. We recycle all our waste paper and source paper stocks only from sustainable forest sources where two trees are planted for every one that is felled. We ensure all our chemicals are recycled with certain elements being reused.”
