Live Earth Gigs Planned

Posted by Really Rubbish on Friday 16 Feb at 10:59

In a series of worldwide gigs planned for this summer, over 100 of the world’s top musicians will perform to highlight the threat of global warming.

In true Live-8 style, the gigs – set to take place on July 7th, which have been announced by former US Vice President Al Gore, are already set to be hosted by London, Sydney, Johannesburg and Shanghai.

Artists already confirmed to be performing at the gigs include the Red Hout Chilli Peppers, Black Eyed Peas, Pharrell Williams, Bon Jovi, Kelly Clarkson, Snoop Dog, Lenny Kravitz, Keane, Snow Patrol, Duran Duran and The Foo Fighters.

It has been described by rapper Pharrell Williams to be “the biggest party on earth”.

With the hope of the concerts reaching a global audience of 2 billion, all proceeds will go towards the creation of ‘The Alliance for Climate Protection’ which is a foundation chaired by Al Gore.
